Capernaum
After the Sea of Galilee we went to Capernaum, where Jesus lived during most of his ministry, and also the site of Peter’s home. Kira showed us a map of Israel, and where each of the sites we were visiting is located. This was under a tree at Capernaum:
We then went inside the ruins of the synagogue there. These ruins are from a synagogue built on top of the one that was there when Jesus taught.
We also the ruins of typical village homes there, and the ruins of Peter’s own house - which internal evidence shows that it likely was his actual residence. There is a church built on top of it, but we could still see into the interior.
